The bit of land where the dolmen stands is still called Goward. It is mentioned in the C17th census, and the 1864 Valuation of tenements in the parish of Clonduff lists several tenants. Documents Rachel found from a helpful person in Ireland are on another page.,
The relatively modern map below shows Goward and the dolmen respectively E and NE of Hilltown. But we believe there haven’t been Gowards there for a very long time, if ever.….
